Cedar privacy fencing is the fence people picture when they picture a backyard. Solid boards, warm color, and a clean line that turns an open lot into a room. It is the fence Ovora builds most often across Wichita and the towns around it.
Wood posts rot, lean, and heave out of the ground within a few Kansas winters — it's the single most common reason a fence fails early. Ovora conceals a galvanized steel post inside every cedar fence and sets steel on every fence type we install, as standard. Not an upgrade option.

Three Cedar Styles
Most people picture one cedar fence. There are three, and the board pattern changes the look, the privacy, and the way the fence handles wind. Here is what each one actually is, looking down at a slice of the wall.
The Wichita default
Solid cedar boards set tight, edge to edge, on one face of the rails — the clean, classic wall most Wichita backyards ask for, built from full-dimension boards.
The heaviest wall we build
A first layer of boards with deliberate gaps, then a second layer laid over those gaps. You get more cedar per foot, more shadow, and a fence that never opens a sightline no matter how much the wood moves.
Good on both sides
Boards alternate front and back of the rail and overlap at the edges. It looks finished from your yard and your neighbor's, and air moves through it — which matters on an exposed run.

Stain & Color
Cedar silvers to a soft gray on its own, and plenty of people want exactly that. If you would rather hold a color, there are twenty-six of them — we stain with Wood Defender, an oil-based exterior stain made for fence. Stain is optional, and when you want it, it is named and priced on your quote before anyone opens a can.
The lightest hand. Grain and knots stay fully visible — this is cedar with the color nudged, not covered.
More pigment, more evening-out. Grain still shows, but the color carries the fence — useful if you want a fence that reads gray, black, or deep brown instead of orange.
Actual Wood Defender swatches — we bring physical samples too. These are Wood Defender’s own swatch photographs, used with their permission, so what you are looking at is the product rather than an artist’s idea of it. A screen still is a screen, and stain takes differently on every board, so we put a real sample in your hand before you commit. Availability varies by color and size at the dealer.

Wind, sun, and ground that never sits still. A cedar fence handles all three — as long as what is holding it up was chosen for this climate instead of for the bid sheet.
Wind
A privacy fence catches every gust that crosses your yard, and all of that load ends up in the posts. Wood posts work loose and start to lean. Ours do not — there is galvanized steel inside every one.
Sun
Western red cedar has natural oils that resist rot and insects without chemical treatment. Left alone it silvers. Stained, it holds color through the long, bright end of a Kansas summer.
Freeze–thaw
Kansas soil swells and shrinks with every wet-freeze-dry cycle, and that is what heaves a fence out of the ground. Posts set to 30 inches with 1.5 to 2 bags of concrete stay put through it.
How the Build Goes
Our recent cedar privacy jobs run 200 to 285 linear feet and go up in 4 to 5 days. See three recent jobs with footage and build dates.
We walk every run, mark gate locations, and note the slope, the trees, and the neighbor’s existing fence. Then you get an itemized price in writing before we leave — including the stain line if you want one.
Utility locates happen before a single hole is dug. Every job, no exceptions, no shortcuts because a run looks obvious.
Tree roots, rock, hard ground after a dry August — that is our problem to solve, not a change order we hand you. What you signed is what you pay.
